Participation in school athletics is offered to students in grades 5-12. Information is available through the Main Office and the Athletic Director. Schedules of athletic activities available each season are placed in the Main Office prior to the beginning of the season.
GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATION
In order to participate in athletics, students must have a current physical examination card on file in the Athletic Office. St. Patrick School is a member of the Michigan High School Athletic Association and thus enforces MHSAA rules and regulations. The MHSAA handbook is available for review from the Athletic Director.
Students who participate in extra-curricular activities (athletics or other) must maintain a C average or higher and must be passing five (5) of six (6) classes. Ineligible students will not be allowed to participate until the next evaluation is processed. Eligibility will be determined at the end of the first marking period and every three (3) weeks thereafter throughout the semester. At the discretion of the Principal and Athletic Director, weekly eligibility may be established for students that are experiencing academic difficulties. Students who are ineligible for athletic activities due to academic or disciplinary reasons must attend practices, but they may not participate in games.
The Athletic Director is responsible for processing eligibility and informing coaches of players who are ineligible.
Athletes who are suspended for the first time will not participate for one-third of a season. The athlete will be placed on probation for the period of one year after the offense. After one year, the record will be cleared. A second offense during the probation period will result in the loss of a full season. A third offense during probation will result in the loss of privilege to participate for one calendar year from the date of the third offense. Committing or participating in the following activities will result in suspension.
