Michael Wolfston

I have just retired as the Executive Director of the Foundation for Catholic Secondary Schools (FCSE), Diocese of Grand Rapids, MI. The FCSE raised money for tuition assistance for students at Grand Rapids Catholic Central and Grand Rapids West Catholic High Schools. During my six years as the ED of the FCSE donated back over $1,800,000.00 in tuition assistance allowing over 1,000 students the opportunity to receive a Catholic Secondary Education - I firmly believe that no child should be denied a Catholic School Education because of a lack of financial resources!

I live in Lansing, MI with my wife Janice who retired after 30 years as a teacher with the Lansing School District. We have one daughter Emily who works at McLaren Greater Lansing - Sleep Center. I spent 4 years in the United States Air Force (1966 - 1970) I have an AA degree from Grand Rapids Junior College, a BS in Human Services from Ferris State University. A one year State Certificate in Behavior Management from the Juvenile Justice Division & the Michigan Association of Children's Alliances. I was a proud member of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals for over thirty years. I have attended numerous classes and seminars on Planned Giving & Wealth Management. We attend St. John's Student Center in East Lansing & St. Gerard Church in Lansing.

I was also the Executive Director of the Burcham Hills Foundation, in East Lansing, MI from November 2000 through November 2010. The Burcham Hills Foundation raises money to support the 350 elders living at the Burcham  Hills Retirement Community. Under my direction the Burcham Hills Foundation raised over $10,000,000.00 to assist the elders.

I was the National Funds Director for the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Children's Home in Eaton Rapids, MI from 1996 - 2000. I raised over $5,000,000.00 to support the day-to-day operational needs of the Children's Home in this time period.

From June, 1973 until 1996 I worked at St. Vincent Catholic Charities in Lansing, MI. I was responsible for starting the agencies development program. I lead St. Vincent Home into a merger with Catholic Charities in 1985 and was the Associate Director of the new agency until leaving in 1996.
